Josslyn Jacks may have had a difficult childhood at GENERAL HOSPITAL, but now that she’s a teenager things are more complicated than ever! The character made her debut as a teenager, played by actress Jamie Lea Willett, in a 2009 dream sequence that inspired a pregnant Carly to name her daughter Josslyn John. (John is the name both her and Jax’s father have.) After the child’s birth, twins McKenna and Karleigh Larson played Joss until 2012, followed by Sarah Johnson and Paige Oliver. Hannah Nordberg joined GH as the new Josslyn in 2014 for eight months, and in October 2015 the girl became a teenager, now played by Eden McCoy.
Josslyn, the daughter of Carly Corinthos and Jasper Jacks, was embroiled in drama from the start when the villainous Claudia Zacchara held Carly hostage and she ended up helping her give birth in the cubicle she was being held captive in! Claudia wanted to keep the child for herself, but Michael Corinthos appeared and killed her to save his little sister.
Joss was diagnosed with kidney cancer as a toddler, and Carly insisted on finding a kidney donor for a transplant rather than subjecting the little girl to chemotherapy. Jason and Liz’s son, Jake, had just died in a hit-and-run accident, and Carly persuaded Liz to help save her daughter’s life.
But after Josslyn recovered, Jax and Carly’s marriage reached a breaking point and they divorced. Jax sought custody because he feared his daughter’s life would be in constant danger from Carly’s involvement with mafia boss Sonny. But Carly was given full custody after Sonny accused Jax of drug possession.
Josslyn was briefly ill again when her uncle Jerry Jacks injected her with an unknown substance that later turned out to be a vaccine against the deadly pathogen he planned to release into the Port Charles water supply. (Such a thoughtful uncle!) After she got better, the girl visited Jax frequently in Australia.
Upon returning to Port Charles, Joss was upset to discover her mother was dating Franco, whom she believed to be a dangerous psychopath. The girl also had a crush on Cameron Webber and, with Spencer Cassadine’s help, worked to break up him and Emma Scorpio-Drake. Joss was upset when her mum asked her to be the flower girl at her wedding to Franco, but delighted when they didn’t tie the knot in the end!
Joss returned from Australia a little older and wiser in October 2015 and was the maid of honor at Carly’s wedding to Sonny Corinthos. Joss still worried about her mother because she was now old enough to understand exactly what Sonny does for a living. The teenager was devastated when her brother Morgan Corinthos was killed in a car bomb, but happy when tragedy pushed Carly away from Sonny and back into Jax’s arms.
However, it turns out that Jax had arranged at the time to buy Nelle Benson’s kidney for Josslyn (it turns out Jake hadn’t actually died, so it couldn’t have been his kidney that got it!), so a jealous Sonny had The Australian was arrested for organ trafficking and deported, so Joss lost her father again. It was bad when Joss clashed with her mother over her relationship with Sonny and her teenage partying and dating friend Oscar Nero, but it got even worse when Nelle plotted to arrest Carly and lock him up in Ferncliff!
Josslyn was happy when her mom was released, but then her relationship with Oscar took a turn when he dumped her out of nowhere! She found in Cameron a compassionate shoulder to cry on and hired him to pose as her boyfriend to make Oscar jealous. Unfortunately, Cam actually had genuine feelings for her and after a while it became clear that Oscar only wanted to push her away because he was going to die of a brain tumor. Angered, Josslyn returned to Oscar to be by his side as he underwent experimental treatment to save his life, but despite his best efforts, the boy died.
Josslyn was heartbroken over the loss of Oscar and is struggling to get over it. And Sonny’s invitation for Dev to stay with them further complicated things, as he soon found himself in love with Josslyn, going so far as to steal her diary to forge an entry to show Cameron how to convince him , to retire! Joss, Trina, Cam and Dev all agreed to attend the prom as friends, but later in the evening Joss and Cameron stole away to kiss. Josslyn was later stunned when an explosion at the floating rib claimed Dev’s life.
Although Josslyn hoped to be accepted into her first-choice college, she finally gave in when she found out she was on the waiting list and agreed to attend Port Charles University with Trina and share an apartment. Finally, on July 4th, Joss and Cam realized that Dev had tried to drive them apart and admitted their feelings by sharing a kiss! But Josslyn wasn’t pleased when Spencer returned to Port Charles, first telling Trina his name was Victor. When Joey Novak Joss delivered a message for Jason and Carly, Jax began to fear for his daughter’s safety. When Trina was helping her friend prepare a special dinner for her father, Joss recognized Sonny’s special sauce, leading to the discovery that he was alive and well with amnesia in Nixon Falls!
Josslyn agreed to help Trina and Cam set a trap to catch Ava’s stalker, but they were disappointed when only Spencer confessed and he stopped his girlfriend Esme Prince from doing so. During a weekend getaway before Spencer served his time stalking, Esme instigated a drinking game that humiliated Trina. But when Joss confronted Spencer about his girlfriend, he sided with Esme. Josslyn and Cameron decided to make love for the first time that night but little did they know Esme had set up a camera to record it. Worse, she leaked it online and blamed the whole thing on Trina! Josslyn assured Trina that she knew she was innocent and beat Spencer up for continuing to defend Esme.
