Brando was supposed to be dead in GENERAL HOSPITAL, but he turned up very much alive and was played by an actor Johnny Wactor from January 2020! GH is Wactor’s debut of the day, although the actor boasts an extensive resume that includes appearances on primetime series such as ARMY WIVES, SIBERIA, CRIMINAL MINDS, NCIS and THE OA. He has reprized the role on and off since then, save for a brief stint in June 2022 when the role was recast with Brad Schmidt.
Brando is the son of Gladys Corbin, although she told everyone he was killed in action. When Sonny caught her leaving him a voicemail message for Christmas, she claimed she likes doing it to feel close to her son. But it turns out there’s a lot more to it than that! Brando is also said to be Dev’s father, according to the fake papers Sonny Corinthos issued to keep the child in the country. So things got a lot more complicated once he entered the picture!
When gunfire rang out in the Corinthos Coffee warehouse, Carly Corinthos assumed the gunman protecting her during the shooting was one of Sonny’s men. But after the guy took a bullet for her, Carly was stunned when Gladys recognized her son. Later, in the hospital, Sonny questioned Brando, who admitted he ran away from his mother after a big argument. But he still checked her social media and when he saw her posting about a grandson he reached out to find out what was going on because he never had kids.
When Carly questioned why he saved her and wondered if he knew she was Sonny’s wife, he admitted he was just acting on instinct. Brando then questioned her about this supposed son he has and Carly explained the whole situation and the fake papers to her. Brando reluctantly agreed to go along with the plan but wanted to go home to Chicago. However, Sonny gifted him a garage, assuring him that it was not a facade and that he did not want to involve Brando in his business. It was just a way of thanking him for saving Carly’s life.
Brando was nice to Molly Davis when she stopped by to have her car looked at, and the couple ended up spending the night together. But the next day she found out that her boyfriend hadn’t left her, he had been kidnapped! She swore to Brando not to disclose their liaison and he promised to keep it secret. But he soon clashed with Sam McCall, who was worried about her sister. When the villain Cyrus Renault approached Brando, he was quick to rebuff the drug smuggler, but the mechanic came under suspicion when Jason Morgan had a near-fatal accident after Brando was working on his motorcycle!
When Cyrus offered to drop the charges against him if he worked for him, Brando agreed, despite actually working as a double agent for Sonny. And just for the sake of appearances, Jason even shot Brando! Gladys returned to check on her son and Brando was furious when she agreed to take Cyrus’ money to frame Jason in Franco’s murder.
Brando also became closer to Sasha Gilmore as she struggled to get off drugs, and when he told her about his own troubles, the two ended up having sex in his garage. When he found out she was pregnant, she told Cyrus it was from an accidental one-night stand to protect Brando from his wrath. But Cyrus decided to test Brando’s loyalty by kidnapping his mother and ordering his employee to shoot her! Luckily, they were rescued and Cyrus was eventually brought to justice.
Sasha was concerned that Brando might be a part of her child’s life given his involvement in the mob, so he left that world happily behind. He also forced his mother to move out and get a job so he and Sasha could prepare to welcome their bundle of joy in the near future. Tragically, when their baby was born, he was deprived of oxygen and the new parents had to make the heartbreaking decision to take the newborn off life support and say goodbye.
As he mourned the loss, Brando worried because Sasha was taking it even harder than he was. He attempted to lift her spirits with a trip to Niagara Falls and finally relented when she suggested they flee. They returned to Port Charles as husband and wife, and Brando remained in the dark that Sasha had been taking pills to deal with her grief.
