Molly Sims is one of the most relatable celebrity moms out there. From her hilarious quotes about coping with motherhood (“I couldn’t decide whether I wanted bangs or not, so I cut my daughter bangs and she looks awful. She dodged a bullet”) to her LOL funny TikToks (ie, unpacking her son’s stinky lacrosse gear). sports illustrated model rotated podcaster it really does all these days. Of course, before all of that, the mother-of-three was traveling the world modeling for big brands, starring on the hottest magazine covers and catwalks. Molly, 48, opened up HollywoodLife.com in an EXCLUSIVE interview about how her personal attitude towards her health has changed over the course of her career and how her focus has shifted to “healthy instead of thin”.
“Having to wear a size two for 20 years is never easy on the mind. I think I will always have some kind of body dysmorphia because of this. You know, my hands still sweat when I try things on. I don’t think that will ever go away. I think my mindset is just different now that I have kids,” Molly told HL. “I use my jeans. I don’t weigh myself. I know I’m not good with a number on a scale, but I’m good with a pair of jeans or a pair of pants or a dress to know my body and where I am.”
She continued, “I’m focused on being healthy for my family instead of being skinny. I don’t even like the word skinny. I don’t like the word diet. But that doesn’t mean I don’t take care of myself. That doesn’t mean I don’t crush it when I’m in the gym.” Molly recalled being inspired by her own mother, who walked four miles every day to get exercise and loved sports and activities.
“I think that’s why I’ve gotten active in my life and I hope that becomes more of a standard as young kids see their parents do it,” she said. “That’s why we’re so enthusiastic about sports! My children, they are running, they are out, their bodies are strong, their minds are strong.”
When it comes to “crushing it at the gym,” Molly admitted to messing up her exercise regime while healing an old back injury. “I do Pilates, I do hot yoga, all to strengthen the core and get lean and tall. I am in love Megan Roupe‘s Sculpt Society, I Love Hot Pilates with Shannon Nadj. I think my body is better when I do different things,” she explained.
Molly spoke to HollywoodLife in collaboration with Hood Cottage Cheese, one of her favorite products for a healthy, high-protein snack. “You can get sweet, you can get savory. They have a ton of different flavors, from everything bagel to pineapple to peach,” she explained. “It’s just something that’s always part of my pantry! It’s versatile—sometimes I’ll toss some cottage cheese in my kids’ pancakes in the morning for extra protein. My trainer puts it in his egg white. It’s an easy and nutritious way to get you and your kids eating better!”
